*Some people would think that a haiku should conform strictly to the 5-7-5 syllabication scheme. But if the flow of the sound is compromised by being one syllable short, then by all means, throw 5-7-5 out the window.

Doe.
A deer.
A female deer.
Still as a statue;
eyes, gentle
like deep pools of water.
Picture-perfect stance;
slow yet fleeting,
like a dream.

Beauty like this
must be approached with caution.

Slow
and steady.
Fragile. Handle
with care.
Like carrying a Ming Dynasty vase
across a tightrope.

wrong
move
